10 types of spy cameras that could be watching you now

Camera technology has advanced a lot over the years. They keep getting smaller and smaller, which makes it possible to hide them somehow.

Spy cam makers have been creative in creating some of the most cleverly disguised (and small) camera/DVR systems out there with HD video, motion detection, large storage card support, and remote controls.

1. usb flash drive spy cameras

These cameras look like your regular USB storage stick, but think again. They have a hidden camera inside! These days it’s not uncommon for someone to carry a USB stick, so finding them can be a bit challenging.

So how can you tell? The camera lens for these USB stick cameras is usually located on the back end of the stick, opposite the USB plug. With this form factor, this spy camera will blend seamlessly into an office or classroom.

2. Men’s Shower Gel Spy Cameras

As scary as it sounds, they actually sell these now. Those cameras are disguised as bottles of shampoo or body wash. The top half of these sneaky little spy cameras is actually a refillable container for legitimate shower gel and the bottom half houses the camera circuitry. They’re also advertised as water-resistant, equipped with motion detection and a remote.

This type of spy camera ensures that it will only record what you want to record, but it is also something you should look for when living in someone’s home or rental.

3. Wi-Fi AC Adapter Spy Cameras

Now, these cameras are disguised as your regular power brick/AC power supply. They plug into the wall like any run-of-the-mill wall wart and they look clear enough to be mistaken for something else. They also come with their own wire which apparently doesn’t power anything. But they hide a deep, dark secret. They really are fully functional camera/DVR systems.

The lens of this spy camera is usually hidden in a small hole between the + and – polarity symbols. Some models also have built-in Wi-Fi so you can live stream footage to your phone or tablet via the app. If live streaming isn’t your thing, it even saves on a microSD under a hidden compartment on the unit.

4. Bathroom Tissue Box Spy Cameras

These spy cameras look like normal tissue paper box or toilet roll dispenser but see again! Many manufacturers of some of these contraptions advertise them as pinhole free, so they are hard to locate. They are a bit larger than other spy cameras, but blend in seamlessly in a home setting. Just drop them on a table or dresser and no one will suspect it.

5. Electrical Outlet Spy Cameras

See that wall outlet face that almost always looks like a startled emoji? Well, it could just be a camera in disguise. The small cameras for these units are hidden within the holes of the common electrical sockets.

Rechargeable ones have sticky adhesive backs so they can be placed anywhere there’s a wall to stick to. But other models actually plug in and go on top of an existing wall outlet.

6. Toilet Brush Spy Camera

Who would ever think that this lesser toilet sanitization device could be something else? Well, no one… except for those who thought of Toilet Brush Spy Camera, of course. And that’s the charm of this little work. Who would want to mess with a dirty toilet brush at a stranger’s house? Absolutely.

Most of these units come with a remote control and motion detection, so covert surveillance with these deceptive little things is entirely possible. These spy cameras are not found in many of your typical retail stores, but there are online shops dedicated to selling them.
